**Rake Back** is most useful in decks that reliably generate **Gold tokens**, most notably **Merchant-class heroes like Kassai of the Golden Sand**, who can create Gold through weapon hits and other synergies; in those decks, Rake Back effectively becomes a “free” card by converting excess Gold into tempo, making it attractive in grindy matchups where Gold generation outpaces spending. Outside of dedicated Gold-producing builds, it’s inefficient since paying its normal resource cost offers little upside compared to stronger generic options. In most competitive Kassai lists, however, there are generally **higher-impact payoffs for Gold**, such as cards that convert Gold into direct damage boosts or stronger tempo swings, meaning Rake Back tends to be a secondary or flex inclusion rather than a staple; it can see play in slower, value-oriented Merchant builds, but it is not typically considered a top-tier or auto-include card.
