Battle Prep is best in proactive decks that can spare their arsenal slot and want to set up a single important attack after a non-attack action—such as Ninja, Warrior, Brute, or some Assassin lists—because it fixes the top of the deck with Opt 2, gives back the action point with go again, and turns the following attack into a meaningful +3-power threat. It is less attractive for Ranger, which usually needs arsenal for arrows, and for decks that need arsenal for key defense reactions or combo pieces. It is not strictly outclassed because the Opt 2 plus zero-resource arsenal payoff is unique, but for pure damage, red Razor Reflex is often better: it also gives +3 and can grant go again at instant speed as an attack reaction, without requiring the card to have been in arsenal; Pummel is also generally stronger for decks that can pay for it, offering +4 and a disruptive on-hit effect.
