Check-Raise is best in a Pirate/wager-focused deck—particularly one that can reliably make an attack wager every turn—because it turns a wager attack into a more threatening breakpoint while still giving go again to continue the turn; it is much less appealing in decks that only occasionally wager, since it can become an unplayable conditional buff. It is primarily a role-player rather than an automatic staple: stronger proactive wager payoffs and cards that either create a wager themselves or provide more immediate damage are generally preferable when deck space is tight, but Check-Raise is useful as a blue-pitch enabler that converts into +2 on a relevant attack. It should see play in dedicated wager lists that need blue cards and want to pressure with go-wide turns, but it is usually not worth including in generic decks or in lists with too few wager attacks.
