Submerge is best suited for slower, setup-oriented decks that actively manipulate or care about deck order—particularly strategies that can reliably access cards deeper in the deck (through multiple draws, banish-from-top effects, or effects that look at and reorder the top 5 cards), making it most plausible in a combo-leaning Pirate or Ranger-style shell that wants to “bank” a key card safely while filtering a weak hand; however, because placing a card specifically fifth from the top is slow and indirect setup, it is generally weaker than more flexible deck-manipulation or defensive options like Sink Below, Fate Foreseen, or proactive filtering cards that let you control the very top of your deck immediately, meaning Submerge is likely fringe-playable at best and would only see competitive play if a specific combo or synergy makes the exact fifth-from-top placement meaningfully exploitable.
