Drawing Dead is best suited to aggressive, reaction-heavy sword Warrior decks—primarily Dorinthea with Dawnblade and Kassai builds using sword weapons—that can make an attack difficult to block and turn the wager into a disruptive discard from the opponent; it is especially reasonable when the extra +1 is the breakpoint that makes a sword hit. In most competitive lists, however, it is likely outclassed by stronger sword/weapon reactions such as **Sharpen Steel** for a larger power boost, **Steelblade Supremacy** for both damage and card advantage on hit, and **Ironsong Determination** when its conditional bonus is live, since Drawing Dead’s downside is severe whenever the opponent successfully defends and makes you discard instead. It is a niche playable as additional low-cost sword support or in a meta where hand disruption is unusually valuable, but it should generally not be a priority over the stronger Warrior attack reactions.
