Engulfing Shadows (2) would mainly benefit Shadow heroes that actively utilize the banished zone—such as **Chane (Shadow Runeblade), Vynnset, or Levia**—because its **Blood Debt** drawback is mitigated in decks that regularly play or clear banished cards, turning what is normally a liability into manageable (or even synergistic) pressure. However, as a generic defense reaction that simply blocks (typically for 3) while permanently banishing itself and threatening life loss, it is generally weaker than staples like **Sink Below**, **Fate Foreseen**, **Unmovable**, or class-specific defense reactions that provide filtering, higher defense value, or additional upside without ongoing life loss. Even in Shadow decks, there are usually more proactive cards that advance your game plan rather than a purely defensive card with Blood Debt attached. As a result, Engulfing Shadows (2) is niche at best and would rarely see competitive play unless a specific Shadow build wants extra banish-zone dens
