Trained Saurian is mainly a multiplayer/Ultimate Pit Fight card for defensive or attrition-oriented decks that expect to fall behind on life while surviving long enough for the Ally to repeatedly pressure the table; it is especially useful against opponents relying on Arsenal, since a hit destroys an Arsenal card, but it is unreliable in normal 1v1 because it only attacks when the opponent has more life than you and does nothing when life totals are tied or you are ahead. For competitive Constructed, Command and Conquer is generally the better Arsenal-disruption card: it is immediately threatening, works regardless of life totals, and punishes Arsenal while also demanding defense. Trained Saurian should therefore be treated as a flavorful, potentially strong UPF/Event-deck inclusion rather than a serious Classic Constructed or Blitz staple.
