Violent Gusto is primarily an anti-aura sideboard card, best in resource-rich aggressive or midrange decks—especially Brute, Guardian, Warrior, and other decks that can comfortably pay 2 and present an attack large enough to threaten a hit—when expecting Enigma or other aura-heavy strategies; naming **Spectral Shield** is particularly strong because returning a shield token removes it permanently, and connecting can clear every same-named aura at once. It is usually not a main-deck staple because it is narrow and merely returns non-token auras rather than destroying them, but it can be excellent tech in an aura-heavy metagame. In Brute, **Erase Face** is often the better dedicated answer when destruction of a key aura is more important, since it permanently removes the aura rather than allowing it to be replayed; however, Violent Gusto has the unique upside of sweeping multiple copies of a named aura and is therefore better specifically against piles of Spectral Shields.
