About Auric Shards (1)

Auric Shards (1), Illusionist instant - aura, designed by None first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Omens of the Third Age and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Auric Shards fits best in Illusionist decks that consistently create or attack with **fragment** attacks—most notably Prism builds that reliably generate Spectral auras or other fragment-tagged attacks—because it functions as a cheap aura that passively boosts a key attack and carries **Ward 1** for incidental protection, making it more appealing in midrange or aura-stacking strategies rather than aggressive, tempo-focused lists. Its value increases significantly if you can consistently enable the holo counter for the +4 power mode, but without that upside it’s fairly low impact compared to stronger, more flexible aura payoffs like **Merciful Retribution**, **Haze Bending**, or efficient blue pitch auras that advance broader game plans. In most competitive builds, it’s somewhat niche and likely inferior to higher-impact or more synergistic aura options unless your list is specifically built to maximize fragment synergies and holo counter scaling, so it may see play in specialized build
