Engulfing Shadows (2) would mainly benefit Shadow heroes that actively utilize the banished zone—such as **Chane (Shadow Runeblade), Vynnset, or Levia**—because its **Blood Debt** drawback is mitigated in decks that regularly play or clear banished cards, turning what is normally a liability into manageable (or even synergistic) pressure. However, as a generic defense reaction that simply blocks (typically for 3) while permanently banishing itself and threatening life loss, it is generally weaker than staples like **Sink Below**, **Fate Foreseen**, **Unmovable**, or class-specific defense reactions that provide filtering, higher defense value, or additional upside without ongoing life loss.
