Overblast fits best in aggressive Boost-heavy Mechanologist decks (like Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire in Classic Constructed or Dash I/O in Blitz) that aim to chain multiple Boosts in a single combat chain, since it scales in power for each prior Boost and rewards explosive turns with multiple attacks. However, it is generally considered below rate compared to more efficient Boost payoffs like **Zipper Hit**, **Throttle**, or premium threats such as **Teklo Pounder–enhanced attacks** or **Maximum Velocity**, which either have better base rate, stronger on-hit effects, or more consistent damage output without requiring as much setup. Because Overblast depends heavily on already having boosted multiple times in the same chain and lacks inherent go again or strong breakpoints on its own, it is usually outclassed in optimized competitive lists, though it can be a reasonable budget or synergy inclusion in casual or lower-powered Boost-focused builds.
