Haboob is best suited for slower Illusionist control or fatigue-style decks—particularly Prism variants—that can reliably generate Ash (via cards like *Rake the Embers*, *Billowing Mirage*, or other Ash-creating effects) and are comfortable playing a long game where reducing opposing attack power adds up over time. The global -1 power to attack action cards can significantly blunt go-wide aggro strategies (like Ninja or Warrior) and make breakpoints awkward, but the escalating Ash upkeep makes it resource-intensive and difficult to sustain unless your deck naturally produces excess Ash every turn. In practice, most competitive Illusionist builds prefer more immediately impactful or lower-maintenance disruption (such as efficient Phantasm threats or strong auras that generate value without heavy upkeep), so while Haboob can be a niche meta call against hyper-aggro, it is generally outclassed by more proactive pressure or defensive tools and is unlikely to see consistent competitive play
