About Sharpening Sparks

Sharpening Sparks, Warrior attack reaction, designed by None first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Mastery Pack Warrior.

**Sharpening Steel** (0-cost Warrior attack reaction) fits best in aggressive Warrior decks that consistently attack with **swords**, especially builds that can present multiple sword swings in a turn (e.g., Dorinthea or Kassai). It’s strongest when you can reliably hit, because the on‑hit **sharpen** counter effectively snowballs damage across additional swings that turn, making it better in go‑wide or reprise-enabled builds rather than slower, controlling lists. However, it competes with stronger and more flexible Warrior reactions like **Ironsong Response** (better rate and reprise synergy), **Spoils of War** (team-wide buffs plus Copper generation), and **Warrior’s Valor** (go again + power buff), which often provide more consistent value or broader upside. Because Sharpening Steel only buffs one sword and only pays off if you hit, it’s somewhat win‑more and meta-dependent; it can see niche play in hyper-aggressive sword lists but is generally outclassed by the staple Warrior react
