Volcanic Vice fits best in a Guardian deck that reliably creates Seismic Surges—such as **Valda Brightaxe** or a **Bravo, Showstopper** build running Tectonic Plating and other surge-generating effects—because it only gains *spellvoid 3* if you’ve created a Seismic Surge that turn, making it a conditional anti-arcane tech piece. In a Seismic-heavy Guardian list that wants extra protection from Kano or other arcane-focused heroes without dedicating multiple equipment slots to Nullrune, it can have niche value; however, it is generally weaker than **Nullrune Gloves**, which provide consistent Arcane Barrier 1 every turn without setup, and often less flexible than **Ironhide Gauntlet**, which guarantees value in any matchup. Because its effect is conditional and Guardians don’t always create Seismic Surges every turn, Volcanic Vice is typically a fringe sideboard option rather than a staple, and most competitive builds will prefer more reliable defensive arms equipment.
