About Explosive Prodigy
Explosive Prodigy, Creature — elemental sorcerer, designed by Joshua Raphael first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Lorwyn Eclipsed.
Explosive Prodigy would fit best in a multicolor “domain” or 3–5 color midrange deck that reliably controls several differently colored permanents, since its damage scales with the number of colors you have on board; in a two-color deck it’s likely underpowered, but in a five-color shell it could enter and deal up to 5 damage, functioning as removal attached to a creature. That said, compared to existing options, it’s probably below rate unless aggressively costed and well-statted—cards like Omnath, Locus of Creation (for multicolor payoff), Territorial Kavu (domain scaling), or even simple efficient removal creatures like Bonecrusher Giant or Solitude are often stronger and more consistent, since they don’t require broad color setup to be effective. As a result, this card would likely only see play in a dedicated domain-style Standard or Commander brew where maximizing color diversity is already the plan, but it would struggle in competitive formats unless its stats are very efficient
