About Demonbound Gloomblade (1)
Demonbound Gloomblade (1), Runeblade action - attack, designed by None first released in Jul, 2026 in the set Usurp the Shadow Throne Pre-release Cards.
Demonbound Gloomblade is mainly for Shadow Runeblade decks that both banish cards and make Runechants—especially Vynnset, and historically Chane formats where he is legal—because it can be played from banish to turn Blood Debt into upside and, with Usurp enabled, attacks for 3 power for 0 resources. It is most attractive in a budget or heavily Runechant-focused list that reliably has spare Runechants to destroy, but it is generally below the premium zero-cost attackers: cards such as Bounding Demigon and Ghostly Visit are usually better in Chane-style aggressive lists because they naturally attack for 3 and can gain go again, while Vynnset often prefers cards that better support her Rune Gate/Runechant plan or provide stronger attack breakpoints. Gloomblade should therefore be a situational filler rather than an automatic inclusion: play it if your deck consistently has Runechants and needs playable Blood Debt cards from banish, but cut it for stronger 3-power go-again attacks or more
