Viral Diffusion fits a defensive, disruption-focused Mortimer Assassin deck that wants to slow the game down, force awkward next turns with Frailty, Inertia, and Bloodrot Pox, then capitalize while the opponent is resource-starved or unable to cleanly execute their hand; it is especially useful in slower Blitz or Classic Constructed builds that already play at instant speed and can afford holding cards for defense reactions. Its three tokens provide strong delayed value, but paying 3 resources to block 3 is inefficient when you need to defend efficiently, so it should not replace premium zero-cost defense reactions such as `Sink Below` or `Fate Foreseen`, which are generally better at preventing immediate damage and preserving tempo.
