**Pox Plague** (in wezen een vijf-mana, geheel zwarte “super Pox”) zou het beste passen in een mono-black controle-, uitputtings- of grondstoffenontkenningsshell die is gebouwd om de symmetrie te doorbreken: decks die recursieve bedreigingen gebruiken (Gravecrawler, Bloodghast), doodstriggers, opofferingssynergieën, planeswalkers en lage permanente aantallen (zoals klassieke Pox- of Smallpox-strategieën). Het geeft vooral de voorkeur aan bouwwerken die hun hand snel leegmaken, landen als Urborg en nutslanden gebruiken en vertrouwen op de waarde van het kerkhof, zodat het 'halve' effect de tegenstanders meer pijn doet. Bij BBBBB is het echter extreem kleurintensief en langzamer dan bestaande opties; **Pokken (3 mana)** en **Pokken (2 mana)** zijn over het algemeen beter omdat ze eerder naar beneden komen en gemakkelijker te werpen zijn, terwijl **Death Cloud** schaalbaar is en tegenstanders ronduit kan opsluiten in rampshells.
