Showdown is best in aggressive Warrior sword decks—especially Dorinthea or Kassai builds using Dawnblade, Hatchet of Body, or Cintari Sabers—that can reliably make their sword attack hit and can capitalize on the Flurry token; it is most attractive when your deck already has strong on-hit pressure and ways to force damage through. The card is relatively high-variance, however, since missing the attack hands the wager to the opponent, and a simple +2 by itself is not always worth an action point and a card. In most Dorinthea lists, Ironsong Response is generally better as a combat trick because its +3 is more efficient and can be used at reaction speed, while Hit and Run can be preferable in weapon-focused turns needing go again rather than a conditional token. Showdown can see play as a situational red attack-action buff in dedicated sword/token synergies, but it is unlikely to be a staple and should not displace stronger, more reliable weapon buffs or reactions.
