Downswing is best suited to aggressive sword-based Warrior decks—especially Dorinthea or Kassai builds—that attack with a sword repeatedly and can reliably turn a +1 into an important breakpoint or force extra cards from the defender; the wager is least painful when you are not holding Gold and expect the sword attack to hit. It is generally a low-priority sword pump, though, since the wager creates downside on successful attacks and +1 alone is not especially efficient. **Ironsong Response** is usually better because it costs 0, gives a weapon attack +1 at instant speed, and grants go again if the attack hits, enabling another weapon swing; other premium Warrior attack-reaction packages may also outperform it depending on the hero and format. Downswing should see play only as supplemental redundancy in a dedicated sword deck, preferably in formats or lists where stronger weapon buffs are unavailable or where its pitch value is particularly useful.
